Customizing Fields:



Creating Entity step by step:


Perform the following steps to complete this lab:

Step 1 - Create the Prototype Entity

Create this entity in the Default Solution. Use the table in the Goal Description to
obtain the values for the properties of the entity.

1. Open the Default Solution form by clicking Settings,
Customizations, and by clicking Customize the System.
2. Click Entities in the component list.
3. Click the New button to create a new entity.
4. Fill in the details for the entity using the information in the Goal
Description for the Prototype Entity.
5. Click Save and Close.

Step 2 - Create the Test Run Entity

1. Still in the Default Solution form on the Entities component, click
New.
2. Fill in the details for the entity using the information in the Goal
Description for the Test Run entity.
3. Click Save and Close.

Step 3 - Publish

Although the tables and fields for the new entities are created immediately, you
should still publish the changes to ensure all the labels are updated throughout
the system.

1. Click Entities in the component list of the Default Solution form.
2. Click Publish All Customizations.

Step 4 - Test the New Entities

1. Click Save and Close in the Default Solution form.
2. In the main Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 screen, press function
key 5 to reload the site.
3. Click Marketing in the navigation area.
4. Click the Prototype entity.
5. Click New in the ribbon to create a new instance.
6. Fill in a name (Sure-Grip Saddle).
7. Click the Save button in the ribbon.
8. Click the Add tab in the ribbon.
9. Click Other Activities and select Test Run from the list.
10. Fill in a name (Road Test).
11. Save and close the activity.
12. Click Activities in the Navigation pane of the new Prototype to
check that the Test Run Activity appears there.
13. Click the Prototype tab in the ribbon.
14. Click Save and Close.
