MS CRM - Customizing fields

Modifying Entities:




Step 1 - Enable Queues for the Prototype Entity

1. Click Settings, Customizations, and Customize the System to open
the Default Solution Edit form.
2. Click the Prototype Entity in the Default Solution Edit form.
3. Select the check box to activate queues.
4. Select the check box to automatically move the record to the owner's
default queue.
5. Click the Save button in the toolbar.
6. Click the Publish button in the toolbar.
7. Close the Solution Edit Window.

Step 2 - Test the Change to the Prototype Entity

1. Click Marketing in the Navigation pane.
2. Click Prototypes.
3. Click the New button to create a new Prototype.
4. Fill in a name, and then click Save and Close.
5. Click Workplace in the Navigation pane, then Queues in the My
Work list.
6. Pull down the Queue Items: list and select Items available to work
on.
7. Pull down the Queues list and select All Queues.
8. Verify that the new Prototype instance you created appears in the
list.

Step 3 - Create a New Field for the Prototype

1. Click Settings, Customizations, and Customize the System to open
the Default Solution Edit form.
2. Click Fields under the Prototype Entity in the Solution Edit form.
3. Click the New button to create a new field.
4. Type Marketing Type in the Display Name field.
5. Pull down the Type list and select Option Set.
6. Select No for Use Existing Option Set.
7. Click the add button in the Options list.
8. Type Accessory in the Label field.
9. Click add again, and then type Part as the label.
10. Click Add again, and then type Cycle in the Label field.
11. Click Save and Close in the toolbar.
12. Add the field to the form
13. Use Preview to test the form.
14. Save the form and publish all the customizations.

Step 4 - Create New Fields for the Test Run

1. Click Settings, Customizations, and Customize the System to open
the Default Solution Edit form.
2. Click Fields under the Test Run Entity in the Solution Edit form.
3. Click the New button to create a new field.
4. Type Test Location in the Display Name field.
5. Pull down the Type list and select Single Line of Text.
6. Select Text for the format.
7. Click Save and New.
8. Type Success Measure in the Display Name field.
9. Select Whole Number from the Type List.
10. Set the minimum value to 0; and the maximum value to 100.
11. Click Save and New.
12. Type Suggested Next Test Run in the Display Name field.
13. Choose Date and Time from the Type List.
14. Choose Date Only in the Format List.
15. Click Save and Close.
16. Add the new fields to the form
17. Use Preview to test the form.
18. Save the form and publish the customizations.
